Annual URSI Symposium Set For Friday, October 17

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice will host its 2025 Undergraduate Research Summer Institute (URSI) Symposium on Friday, October 17 at noon inside the Dr. Anthony Mumphrey Center, Room 127. The event will highlight innovative research conducted by LSUE student scholars and their faculty mentors throughout the summer and is open to the public.
The URSI Symposium serves as the capstone event for students participating in hands-on research across scientific and health disciplines. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a range of student-led projects, from biomedical analysis to technological innovation and nutrition science.
Presentations will include “Aluna Breath Easier Smart Spirometer” by Ana David and Catherine LeDoux, exploring a gamified device to help children manage asthma; “Determination of Iron Content in Over-the-Counter Iron Supplements” by Cami Cortez, analyzing supplement accuracy; and “Human Blood Glucose Response to Potato and Louisiana Rice Stored at Different Temperatures” by Olivia Hensgens and Titilope Tinubu, which examines how food storage methods affect blood sugar levels.
Students Chloe Colwart and Claire Durapau will also present “Exploring Where No Man Has Gone Before Through da Vinci Robotic-assisted Bronchoscopy,” highlighting how robotic-assisted technology is advancing early lung cancer detection.
“The Undergraduate Research Summer Institute is another unique event that provides our students at the two-year level with invaluable experience in research discovery and innovation,” said Dr. Nancee Sorenson, Chancellor of LSU Eunice. “This symposium is a celebration of their hard work, creativity, and dedication to academic excellence.”
