For the third consecutive year, LSU Eunice’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society has been named a REACH Award recipient, the organization announced this week.

LSU Eunice is one of 453 chapters to be recognized as part of PTK’s REACH Rewards program, which celebrates and rewards Phi Theta Kappa chapters excelling in membership development.

Chapters are eligible for REACH Rewards by maintaining or increasing their membership acceptance rate to 15 percent or higher during the 2020 calendar year.

LSUE is only one of five chapters in Louisiana to receive the honor.

The LSUE chapter will receive five Phi Theta Kappa graduation stoles for chapter officers or members to wear during graduation to keep in celebration of their college completion milestone.

“This honor is a direct reflection of the enthusiasm and support our Phi Theta Kappa chapter has received from our students,” PTK chapter co-advisor Dr. Kyle Smith said.  “We have established ourselves over the last few years as one of the most decorated chapters in the region and that is thanks to our tremendous officers and members.”

Recently, LSUE’s chapter was named a Top 100 Most Distinguished Chapter and received Five-Star Status, in addition to winning several regional and national awards.

Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society organization that recognizes students who earn a 3.5 grade point average or high with at least 12 semester hours of coursework.  The organization promotes academic excellence and civic engagement.  Current LSUE students that are interested in learning more about the LSUE chapter of PTK can contact Dr. Kyle Smith at
