LSU Eunice and Opelousas General Health System celebrated the opening of WellSmart Health earlier this month with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house.
Cutting the ribbon were Andrew Brickley Vice President of Business Development at Opelousas General Health System; Jace Holmes, family nurse practitioner; Amanda Fontenot, Vice President of Marketing and Physician Services at Opelousas General Health; Dr. Nancee Sorenson, Chancellor of LSUE and Dr. Kyle Smith, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
Sorenson expressed appreciation on behalf of the university for the opportunity to host a medical clinic on the campus, while Fontenot acknowledged LSUE for their excellent education and training of the nursing and allied health students. OGHS collaborates with LSU Eunice's respiratory, rad tech, and nursing programs by providing clinic training. She also acknowledged LSUE for their impact on economic development in St. Landry Parish by providing a well-educated workforce for the multiple industries in Acadiana.
The new WellSmart Health Clinic of LSUE provides services including sports physicals, annual wellness visits, drug screens, same-day sick visits, and management of chronic diseases. The clinic is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is 337-457-6110.
