EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society was named a REACH Award recipient for the second consecutive year, the organization announced this week.
The award celebrates and rewards Phi Theta Kappa chapters excelling in membership development. LSUE saw a 20.6% increase in membership, well above the national average of 15%. This is the second straight year the LSUE chapter has been recognized as a REACH winner. A total of 1,081 chapters worldwide were given the REACH Rewards status.
The national office will award LSUE with specialty graduation regalia to be given to LSUE graduates from the Phi Theta Kappa chapter.
“We are honored to receive the REACH Rewards for another year,” Phi Theta Kappa chapter co-advisor Dr. Kyle Smith said. “In a short amount of time, our chapter has become one of the most distinguished in the Gulf South region and that is just a testament to the hard work our officers and members put into the chapter.”
Last year, LSUE’s chapter was named a Top 100 Most Distinguished Chapter in addition to winning several regional and national awards.
Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society organization that recognizes students who earn a 3.5 grade point average or high with at least 12 semester hours of coursework. The organization promotes academic excellence and civic engagement.
