Authors from across Acadiana will converge on the LSU Eunice Mumphrey Center on Saturday, July 23rd, for the First Annual Cajun Prairie Authors Expo! Programming for the event will include three different areas: “Children’s,” “Readers,” and “Writers.” This is a FREE, interactive event for the whole family! We will have a morning session (9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon) and an afternoon session (1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.), with a break from 12:00-1:00 for lunch. Everyone is welcome to either or both sessions.

Children will get to listen to children’s authors read from their works, followed by fun crafts based on the book. There will also be an opportunity for kids to create their own books! We are proud to host such a family-friendly, interactive event!

For “Readers,” we will have local authors reading excerpts from their own books. These will be followed by Question & Answer sessions, where you will have a chance to interact with the authors.

Are you a writer? Or, ever thought about becoming one? We will have several classes on the Writing Craft, from “Show vs. Tell,” to “Writing the 5 Senses,” to TWO sessions (morning and afternoon) on “Publishing Your Work.” There will be lots of seasoned authors to help you on your writer’s journey to publication. We’ll even sponsor a writing contest for attendees!

The authors will have tables set up in the Mumphrey Center, giving attendees a chance to meet and chat with them throughout the day, as well as have authors sign their books! We will also have opportunities to take pictures with your favorite authors, all for FREE!

This is an event that is wholesome, educational, fun for the whole family, and FREE. It is LSU Eunice’s way of saying “Thank you!” to the people of this area. Please join us for the fun and excitement!
