ESSENTIAL SERVICE SCHEDULE

To LSU Eunice Faculty, Staff and Community,

After the announcement from Governor John Bel Edwards this week further restricting in-person events and closing bars, casinos, and theaters, as well as restricting dining at restaurants to take out and delivery statewide, Dr. Tom Galligan,  Interim President of LSU announced the time has come for us to implement our remote working plans.

What this means for us:

  • The campus will remain open with all core functions up and running, either through in-person service or by remote delivery.
    • Students and the public are welcome on campus.
    • We are implementing social distancing protocols in regard to meetings and activities.
  • In addition to training faculty and preparing all instruction to move online, every other department will identify employees who are essential to keep services and operations running,
    • administrators and supervisors are working with all employees to determine schedules and work responsibilities.

With our daily responsibilities having a wide and varied nature, it is certainly true that not every service can be delivered from a virtual or remote environment.  All of us within the LSU system have been asked to be creative and flexible so that every employee may experience the least negative impact.  I can assure you that LSUE is committed to doing so.

For your information I have attached the schedule of LSUE’s Essential Services and Remote Work plan that has been sent to President Galligan.  You will note that WellSmart Health of LSUE is temporarily closed.  All staff have been redeployed to Opelousas General Hospital.

Every event brings opportunity as well as challenges.  It is my hope, along with the great LSUE Cabinet team, that COVID-19 is a  learning opportunity to advance us into the more daily and strategic use of technology.  We believe this is generating creative solutions to improve services  and open lines of communication for even stronger inclusion.

Thanks, as always, for your flexibility and continued cooperation.   Your resilience to and acceptance of change, the one constant dynamic, is deeply appreciated.  I am so proud to be a part of the LSUE team!

We’ll continue to provide updates as new developments occur.

Geaux Bengals!
