Performing Arts Series Presents Two Shows in March

EUNICE - The LSU Eunice Performing Arts Series will present two shows this March as part of its Spring 2010 season. Avner the Eccentric and Dr. Tom and Hats will highlight the March's series.

On March 2 at 6:30 p.m., LSU Eunice will host Avner the Eccentric. Avner's one-man show was a hit of the 1984-1985 Broadway season. He co-starred in Lincoln Center's production of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, and returned to Broadway in 1989 in a principal role in Ghetto. Avner's new show, Exceptions to Gravity, defies the barriers of language and culture and has toured extensively all over the US and abroad.

Tickets for Avner the Eccentric are $4 for adults and $3 for students. Children under 12 are admitted free of charge. The performance will be held on the LSU Eunice campus in the Health Technology Building's auditorium. Funding for Avner the Eccentric is made possible by a grant from the Acadiana Arts Council.

On March 23 at 6:30 p.m., the keyboardist, vocalist and raconteur known as Dr. Tom will visit LSU Eunice, performing a unique one-man show drawn from jazz, pop, R&B, rockabilly, blues and classic country, in no particular order. The event will feature parts of several one-man shows Dr. Tom created from the vintage material he loves from all across America's 20th Century musical spectrum. The diversity of it all is why he bills himself as "the eclectic jazzabilly."

Tickets are $3 for general admission and free to LSU Eunice students. The performance will be held on the LSU Eunice campus in the Health Technology Building's auditorium. Funding for Dr. Tom and Hats was made possible through the support of the LSU Eunice Campus Activities Board.
