Two Lady Bengals are earning national recognition at the top of the NJCAA Division
1 statistics sheet. Becca Brooks and Katie Lemieux have been consistently in the
top ten in the country in points scored and 3-pointers this season.
Brooks, a freshman guard from Sulphur, currently leads Division 1 in 3-point baskets scored. She has 60 3-pointers on the season after 14 games. She is second in the country in average 3-point baskets per game with 4.3 per game. The national leader, Ebony Paker from Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, is averaging 4.5 per game. Brooks is also 17th in the country in scoring with 229 appoints.
Sophomore guard Katie Lemieux is fourth in the country in Division 1 basketball in points scored. She has 276 points after 14 games. The national leader, Aysia Grimsley of Chattahoochee Tech in Georgia, has 353 points. The Pitkin native is 20th in Division 1 in the points per game category. She is averaging 19.7 points per game and is fourth in the nation in field goals with 106. Lemieux is tied for ninth in the country in free throws with 63 this season.
