The LSUE Office of Continuing Education organizes a wide range of programs and
activities to serve just about everyone: business and industry, people who want to enhance
their knowledge and skills in specific areas, community members pursuing leisure-time
interests, and other segments of the population who want to benefit from the higher
education opportunities available through LSUE.
Business and Industry.
LSUE will organize courses and workshops to meet the educational needs of business and
industry, including customized training programs to service specific needs, offered either
on-site or on the LSUE campus.
Distance Education.
LSUE has two distance education laboratory-classrooms that link the campus with other
higher education institutions in the state with two-way video and audio connections. LSUE
can use the laboratory-classrooms to offer courses taught at other universities as well as
to originate classes that will be received at sites around the state. Through its
system of distance education laboratories, Louisiana is making new educational
opportunities available to everyone.
Evening Courses.
LSUE offers credit evening courses both on campus and at off-campus locations in Acadia,
Evangeline, and St. Landry Parishes, including the cities of Crowley, Opelousas, and Ville
Platte. Courses can be applied toward either associate or bachelor's degrees.

Noncredit Short Courses.
Community members enrolling in
noncredit courses do not takes tests or receive grades. The courses offer knowledge and
skills useful on the job, help develop or enhance leisure-time interest, or just provide a
chance to have fun and meet new people through recreational activities.

Statewide Fire Science
Program. The LSUE Fire Science Program serves all of
the state outside of the metropolitan New Orleans area. Courses are taught
in traditional lecture and distance learning formats and offered at fire
training centers, college campuses, and other locations. For more
information, contact the Fire Science Coordinator.
Advanced College Program for High
School Students. The Advanced College Program is a cooperative
program between LSUE and participating high schools in LSUE's service district. ACP
provides high school seniors with an opportunity to earn college credit in approved high
school courses. By completing ACP courses in high school, students earn college credits
that they can apply toward degrees at LSUE or that can be transferred to another college.
Summer Enrichment Program.
The Summer Enrichment Program, held in June, offers a 3-week session of courses for
high-achieving students in grades 1-8. Participants must have a "B"
average for each reporting period during the current school year up to registration for
the program, be a participant in a gifted or talented school program, or have a written
recommendation from the student's teacher and principal.
