Technical
Programs
in Medical and Health
Services
The health care industry needs employees in a
variety of positions that involve processing and managing
information to keep patient records, handle billing, and complete
insurance claims. Employees must be familiar with medical
terminology and coding and must know the correct procedures to
manage medical and health information efficiently. The Division of
Business and Technology offers a diploma, a certificate, and four
technical competency areas in the medical and health services field.
Technical Diploma in Medical
and Health Services Leadership
Students may enroll in the Technical Diploma Program in Medical and
Health Services Leadership after completing the Certificate in
Technical Studies in Medical Records and Health Information
Technology. The diploma is designed for individuals who plan,
direct, coordinate, and supervise the delivery of health care and
who serve as medical and health services managers, both for specific
clinical departments and for entire facilities or systems.
Employment opportunities are expected to grow fastest in practitioners’
offices and home health care services.
