An LSU Eunice sponsored financial aid workshop for high school seniors that was scheduled for February 8 has been moved and combined with the workshop already scheduled for Thursday, February 16.

The workshop will cover the financial aid application process including how to complete the FASFA. A representative from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance will also be on hand to discuss the TOPS program.

The February 16 workshop will be held in the Acadian Center on the LSU Eunice campus at 6 p.m.

Students do not need to be planning to enroll at LSU Eunice to attend the workshop. Any high school senior with questions about Financial Aid is encouraged to attend.

Students, educators and members of the community are invited to attend the free conference at LSU Eunice. The local conference will be held on Friday, Feb. 17 at LSU Eunice in Manuel Hall Room 208, from noon to 1 p.m.  And earlier conference will be held in Lafayette.  It will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lafayette South Regional Library, 6010 Johnston St., Lafayette.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Julie Rocque of the University Saint Boniface of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

"In an environment where parents have two distinct backgrounds, one purely anglophone and one Francophone (French, Belgian, Cajun, Ceole, etc), the students have a different profile than those of mainstream America. This generates educational challenges, that teachers, school and parents have to assess," said Dr.Olivier Chatelain de Pronville, French instructor at LSU Eunice.  "Dr. Rocque will present the Canadian socio-cultural mandate of Francophone education in minority language settings and will explore the supports and structures existing to foster strong partnerships between schools, parents and community."
